happiness

Understanding happiness

Taming happiness has been the biggest aim of mankind I suppose. A bunch of scientists tried to analyse happiness. If they can why can't I?Heres my little attempt -
Factors determining happiness -
Genetic determination - People are genetically predistosed to being happy or otherwise. So blame it all on your genes. If your ancestors were more prosperous than you and you just live a hand-to-mouth existence still you can be as happy as they are. Afterall they have passed it through the gene pool. This is a non-modifiable factor so it cant be used to alter your happiness.

Conditions around you - This includes what most people belive where happiness actually lies. This category includes money, stable relationship, recreation, discos, movies and all. Though in america the per capita income has drastically risen why hasn't the level of happiness? The conclusion was - Man anyway gets adjusted quickly to the conditions around him. So what determines his happiness is not having better living conditions but just the transition from low to high. Not staying at that upper end. The novelty weans off soon. So he is no more happy as before. Ummm... thats the reason why they say money cannot buy happiness!

Attitude - Now heres it. You have to redefine happiness for yourself. Redefine it conveniently according to you. Set your goals according to your capacity and let it be within your reach. Do not over expect. Know your limits. The one who said "Low aim and not failure is a crime" probably stressed more on success. I would give more priority to my happiness than success. My own theory seems to be working for me. I don't bother a bit of compromise on success if I am happy!
