Guess this place is dead..
So,
Where did all the people go? Is everyone busy caught up with their lives? Or is everyone job hopping? Whats happening folks?
In true compsci style may I ask, with very little knowledge, what do you think is the future for IT? Whats in it for us as Indians? Will another country bite a larger share of the offshoring/outsourcing? Will the technology change? What about the brain gain happening? Is higher studies going to get much more importance in the future?
Ramble, ramble you lazy folks, over here. Lets stop a minute to think in this frenzy of life. It may very well sort the road ahead..

Heard that SAP has stopped hiring in India and it is concentrating on its China Development Centre. Is it true?
Who knows? May be one day Somalia will be the most sought-after place for investment. So,start investing in Real Estate in Somalia, guys.
But if by that time India becomes a super power, losing out on BPO might not be a big loss after all.. Am I day dreaming?
Guess this place is dead..."
Not a pleasant topic to ressurect. But, I guess not many will bother to give it a serious thought. These are the days where people enjoy the first half of RDB but fail to digest the second half.
Hey folks, I am not giving a clarion call here. Even I am swaying to Masti ka pathsala. Just a thought to ressurect this blog.
Know what? Do we really need to care about the future of IT? How does it affect us? I know what you must be thinking right now.. no, i am not nuts. Let me put it this way: How many of you believe that you might not be able to earn a living for yourself and your family? I guess none. That is all I am worried about.
Yes, maybe tomorrow India might be outsourcing even politics to some other country because people here do not have time to rule the country :D, but then.. it is all tomorrow. Why should you worry about tomorrow when you have got a wonderful today?
Here again, many people might say I am not planning for the future. But think, what is the reality? You try to save for tomorrow, and do not enjoy today. Tomorrow you wake up and find things have deteriorated and you start working hard again. When do you enjoy life then?
So what is my final say: Yes, I want to know what is happening to the IT field, but do not want to worry about it in any way. As one of the dialogues in RDB goes: "Hum ek pair past pe rakhte hain, ek pair future pe rakhte hain.. aur aaj par mootthe hain" .. How true! You cannot control your past, neither your future. The only thing you have is today. So.. Have you lived your today??
N.B: I know this comment was supposed to be about IT, outsourcing and serious stuff like that! Sorry for straying from the topic, but just thought I would prepare people for tomorrow ;)
Bush and Chid, thank you for your generous feedback. Both of you have your points.
America is a super power and so many IT people are loosing their jobs due to offshoring. So super power or not, we can face that threat too (not to rant here, but just thinking aloud!). Of course, live for today is the best motto. Just having a peek into the future. Whatever said and done, anything else can happen, I agree. Thanks guys!
Just to add to the list of long comments, here's Zaki's ramble. Sincerely, Srihari.

hi Girish
How u dude??/ Long time frm you .. Hope u remember
ur old pal Zaki .... Anyways i guess ur doing fine at
ur end.... Hmmmm .... Ur questions are gr8 but i guess
we can only have questions running in our heads but
very little of implementation... IT we all know is
some thing like a give or take thing and many of us
after knowing the way itz leading us into , we still
stick to it because as an individual it doesnt affect
much but if u consider as big a grp or a country point
of view the impact is amplified , i guess u understand
wht i am meaning here....
Like in my case, I took the IT field only into
thinking of the current market though my interests
were soully on Being a Doctor... I thought i wanted to
settle fast, get my bank balance filled as fast as
possible and something that makes me free to jump from
one place to another which in the case of doctors is
restricted.... Living in India Or abroad IT pays u
lump sum, atleast considering the indian menatlly
though practically its a piece of cake for the
"ANOTHER country" u mentioned...
So might be the similar case for most of our Compsci
dept. who wud have thought like me.
I guess the question we shud ask is "DID we get into
this Filed thinking abt the Questions you asked in ur
mail?" I guess itz a plain "NO" coz if we thought of
all tht may be some wud have turned out to be dancers
or singers or actors or media related or journalists
or doctors or business men etc etc.
There wuz a time when ppl used to say maths is an
important subject as it is required in almost all
fields so till today u can never say Mathematics as a
subject or field is dying and itz also
changed/changing wit time. SAme goes with IT, there is
never an end coz we are fixing the future to be all
computerized whether its genetics or day to day
calculations or bussiness or take anything for tht
matter. Can u predict the end for this?, if SO Whts
the end??? We are thinking of a time when there will
be robots doing all our work and we humans just got to
sit and press buttons to do our task.... For all tht
FUTURE To happen IT should be a backbone for it...
I guess if thts the aim we humans are fixing at we
cannot think abt a countries brain gain/drain,
outsourcing/offshoring ... If we see in market terms
we are getting global and we have to get global for
todays type of copycat marketing (which i guess some
might not accept me as itz got dis-advantages also in
a countries point of view)..
As an individual we look on the monitary point so if
today India is not good, u jump to USA. If not USA
then UK, If not UK tom. u Will be thinking Job
oppurtunities in Australia might be gud or even AFrica
(who knows)...
So Mr girish. " Humara tho paanch decades kaa
zindagi hi hain yaar... ash karo... paisa kamaa o...
kyon ye sab soch raha hain , to get robots in our
lifez we atleast have four to five generations... we
will be dead by then.... technology will keep changing
as time goes by, itz a fact.. higher studies depends
on situtation n individual .
I havent explained much in detail as it wud take me
one full day n a very long mail to discuss on topics
like globaliztion, todays marketing strategies, how
some countries will be under disadvantage if there is
globlaiztion n stuff...?? etc etc. I just gave my
opinion n hints. Hope tht answers ur question.
Hope DE other Compsci Fella's are dong fine? Long
time since i have seen our grp mails pop in de inbox..
ppl are getting busy... My regards to all...
bye
Zaki
Zaki who? Intro pls :p
So basically you're saying leave it to destiny and fate uh? But I wasn't talking philosophically.
I purposely put my post technically oriented to see what we as computer folks have gathered from our experiences so far. Anyways, thanks for your advices, keep posting dude.
